Life in Lake Forest Estates

Where is 1225 River Run Dr? In an established, tree-lined corner of Macedonia, at the center of Northeast Ohio, with strong schools, big parks, and two downtowns within a half hour.

01 · Getting around

Twenty-five minutes to either downtown.

Macedonia is roughly equidistant between Cleveland and Akron, about 20 miles to each. That makes River Run Drive a practical base for commuters, corporate relocations, and anyone who wants city options without the city commute.

Downtown Cleveland

Roughly 20 miles and about 25 minutes via I-271 and I-480. Catch a Guardians game, the orchestra, or an evening at East 4th Street.

Downtown Akron

About 20 miles and 25 minutes south on State Route 8. Lock 3, the Akron Art Museum, and the Rubber City's food scene are an easy drive.

The crossroads

Macedonia sits at the junction of I-271, I-480, I-80 (Ohio Turnpike), and State Route 8, which makes commutes across Northeast Ohio genuinely painless.

02 · Schools

Nordonia Hills City School District.

Homes on River Run Drive are served by the Nordonia Hills City School District. The district's high school sits in Macedonia itself, so the morning drop-off is a short drive from Lake Forest Estates.

  • Ledgeview Elementary

Kindergarten through grade 4, part of Nordonia Hills City School District

  • Nordonia Middle School

Grades 5 through 8, serving Macedonia and neighboring communities

  • Nordonia High School

03 · Outdoors

Big parks, minutes away.

Longwood Park and Manor

One of the largest city-owned parks in Ohio at more than 350 acres. Walking paths, a fishing lake, playgrounds, picnic shelters, ball and soccer fields, and the Macedonia Family Recreation Center. Longwood Manor, a Tudor Revival estate built in 1924, anchors the grounds.

Cuyahoga Valley National Park

Just west of Macedonia. More than 33,000 acres of forests, waterfalls, and the Towpath Trail, plus the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad. It is the only national park in Ohio.

Veterans Memorial Park

A city park in Macedonia honoring local veterans, with open green space for a quick walk or a quiet afternoon.

05 · A little history

From "The Corners" to the crossroads.

The area was settled in the early 1800s, when a traveler's inn served the route between Pittsburgh and Cleveland and locals called the settlement "The Corners." The name Macedonia came from an inside joke among theology students at Western Reserve College in Hudson who preached in the settlement.

Macedonia incorporated as a village in 1922 and grew into the city it is today, anchored by the crossroads of I-271, I-480, the Ohio Turnpike, and State Route 8. Lake Forest Estates is part of that story: an established neighborhood of larger lots and mature trees, minutes from everything.

Come see the neighborhood for yourself.

We will happily include a quick drive around Lake Forest Estates, the school route, and Longwood Park as part of your showing of 1225 River Run Dr.
